THE PULSE / Amsterdam, Niederlande / COMBILIFT 542 & 543
The Pulse Amsterdam – mixed-use district with innovative mobility concept
The Pulse is located in the heart of Amsterdam's Zuidas business district, the most important office market in the Netherlands. Designed by renowned firms MVSA Architects, VMX Architects and Delva Landscape Architects, The Pulse combines living, working, leisure and nature in an innovative concept.
The Pulse is the first building in the Zuidas district to combine such a wide range of functions in a single ensemble. From luxurious penthouses in the residential tower to modern office space, restaurants, retail outlets and a cinema complex, this is a vibrant neighbourhood that is active day and night.
Project scope and building structure
The ensemble consists of a 25-storey office tower, a 22-storey residential tower and a 9-storey base building that combines various uses. The project comprises a total of around 58,000 square metres of gross floor space.
A special highlight is the urban forest at a height of 35 metres on the ninth floor – a green oasis of around 600 m² that promotes biodiversity and offers a place of relaxation for users. At the centre of the base is a lively atrium that serves as a meeting place and integrates the neighbourhood's new cinema.
Sustainability and technology
The project is based on a forward-looking sustainability concept. It is aiming for BREEAM Outstanding and WELL Platinum certification.
Technical features include intelligent building control, photovoltaic systems and biophilic elements that enhance user well-being. The Pulse is thus setting new standards for energy-efficient and healthy construction.
Digital parking solutions from WÖHR
A key element of “The Pulse” is its forward-looking mobility concept, which is complemented by the integration of WÖHR car park systems and the WÖHR SpaceManager. This system enables flexible use of parking spaces for different user groups – from staff and visitors to car-sharing schemes.
The idea behind this is that parking spaces are no longer allocated on a fixed basis, but are managed via a digital platform. The WÖHR Combilifte are directly connected to the WÖHR SpaceManager. This significantly reduces the number of vacant spaces caused by absences such as holidays or business trips. At the same time, utilisation is optimised, as more users can be registered than there are parking spaces available – a clear added value for operators, investors and users.
‘The Pulse’ serves as a pilot project for this innovative solution. Here, 124 parking spaces were created using 13 WÖHR Combilift systems 542 and 543 and fully integrated into the digital parking space management system. This creates an intelligent connection between private and public parking as well as car sharing – a concept that will shape the mobility of the future.
